A fishing plug differs from other types of lures in that they are generally a little bit shorter in length, whilst plumper in the body - most are between an inch and 8 inches in length, and of course they are used to catch all different types of fish. As you can probably imagine, the smaller the fish, the smaller the plug you’ll use , and the larger the fish, the larger the plug - usually.
It is thought that plug fishing is more popular amongst freshwater anglers as opposed to saltwater ones, but it all really depends on the fish in question - and the angler, for that matter.
Usually, a plug will be made out of a lightweight plastic or a similar such material, and can be both solid or hollow in the body. They can have anywhere between one and three hooks, and of course an eyelet for you to attach your line to.
