The Accurate company has been in existence for 50 years. It was originally set up to manufacture precision jet turbine engine components. They entered the sport fishing tackle market back in 1990 with the same precision minded, high-tech, spare no cost philosophy.
Initially Accurate upgraded components for other manufacturer's reels, making high-precision high-strength conversions for Penn reels, then embarking on a design project in 1996 to produce the most technologically advanced fishing reels in the world. It culminated in the unique Accurate twin drag range, with clutch disks at both ends of the spool which exert more even drag pressure through their twin Titanium friction washers, giving significantly increased smooth drag power. When line is drawn from the spool, at say 20 lbs drag pressure, it will consistantly fluctuate between 19.5 and 20.5 lbs, at whatever speed. Now that is accurate.
Accurate build reels with superior quality components to perform under the most extreme conditions. You won't find die-cast parts anywhere on an Accurate reel.
Every component is machined from solid 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminium bar stock. This material is extremely strong, lightweight, and provides superior corrosion protection and heat dissipation.
Every reel has 7 Class 5 ABEC stainless steel bearings impregnated with Teflon which makes them permanently lubricated. The same bearings are used by NASA in orbiting satellites, which are not subject to repair. Accurate's first production reels were rigouously tested on big game boats, day in and day out for almost 40 months, catching hundreds of huge game fish to more than 300 lbs. The Platinum Twin Drag (two speed) and Boss Magnum Twin Drag ranges were born out of this pedigree.
None of the Accurate range of reels have level wind available , but their sculpture spool design makes laying the line a simple task.
Every Accurate reel has an individual serial number. The idividual identifier is clearly engraved onto the end plate. Accurate reels are for dedicated sea anglers who love the sport and require a reel that will give long term trouble free service and allow the owner to enjoy a range of fishing styles in varying depths with confidence.
Accurate reels will never become a volume seller because of the uncompromising specification and the accompanying price tag but perhaps that is part of the attraction to someone searching for the ultimate reel. |
